About
Rachel Nederveld is an audio storyteller based in Lafayette, LA with a rich background in independent filmmaking and arts advocacy. Her creative producing works have screened at prestigious festivals and venues such as Sundance, CPH:DOX, MOMA, BAM, TIFF, and SXSW, earning recognition and support from institutions like the Sundance Institute, Ford Foundation, and Tribeca Film Institute.
Her background includes working in an analogue recording studio, playing in bands, and writing for publications including Vice and Flaunt Magazine. Most recently she married her storytelling and audio interests with a 24 episode oral history for NPR affiliate KRVS. Currently, she is working on an audio documentary project exploring climate change in South Louisiana, tapping into her roots and shedding light on pressing environmental issues.
Beyond her film and audio ventures, Rachel is actively engaged in education and community engagement. She shares her expertise through workshops on storytelling and filmmaking while serving as the Program Director for the Southern Screen Film Festival. She holds a BA in studio art and believes in the power of story to push the boundaries on important issues.
